Irrationality?

According to this logic, I can kill someone or do any crime I want and then promise to not do it again if I am forgiven. WTH?

On a slightly different note, after reading an account on the 26/11 terrorist who got overwhelmed by the spaciousness of the Taj Hotel while he was to put it on fire(as per commands of his commander), I was wondering the following scenario. Suppose say the fellow calls for a negotiation with the government and asks for a lawyer and demands that all his crimes to be irrevocably pardoned and he be given a posh permanent residence in the country in lieu of not harming anyone anymore and giving all details about his crime. Is this 1. Rational, 2. Justifiable to the govt for an agreeable settlement, 3. Govt's response tenable in the court of law ?
What do you think?

Chili Bombs

Reports indicate that military experts in Assam, India, have developed a grenade made using the world's hottest chilli, which is more than 1,000 times stronger than the average cooking spice.
"The chilli grenade is a non-toxic weapon and when used would force a terrorist to come out of his hideout," said lead scientist R.B. Srivastava from India's Defence Research and Development Organisation.
"The effect is so pungent that it would literally choke them," he added.
The hotness of the bhut jolokia, which is native to Assam, in north-east India, is measured in Scoville heat units and comes in at a massive 1,001,304, which is nearly twice as hot as Mexico's red savina that used to hold the record at 577,000.
The average jalapeno measures at about 10,000.

Fear factor

When I booked my train ticket from Chennai to Ahmedabad on 3AC, I had 9 available seats last week and I got one for me. Interestingly, when I travelled in the train, I saw far more than 8 empty seats in 3AC. So it means only one thing - Many of the people have cancelled their tickets. The Reason - Ahmedabad is unsafe after the bomb blasts. Well, I dont think so. You are as safe or unsafe in any other city in India as you are in Ahmedabad barring certain parts of Jammu and Kashmir and naxalite prone areas where the risk level is usually at higher levels. On the day (friday) of the Bangalore blasts, I am sure I would be one of those very few people who had a thought crossing the mind that they had wished that they were in Bangalore on that weekend so that they could catch a movie in theater on that saturday or sunday. Oh! come on. Stop cursing me now.
